Bidding closes 5pm on 25 August 2026, so pencil it in and check the condition report before you commit.
FAQ
Which auction houses sell cars in Sydney?
Pickles Auctions in Belmore and Manheim in Moorebank are the two highest-volume vehicle auctioneers in Sydney, running weekly sales. Lloyds, Grays, and Slattery also regularly list NSW vehicles online. Classic and collector car specialists like Burns & Co. run periodic Sydney events.
Do Sydney vehicle auctions require ID and a deposit to bid?
Most major platforms require a pre-authorised credit card hold or refundable deposit before your bidding account is activated. National ID is also required by major auctioneers. It’s recommended to register well in advance so that everything is processed before auction day.
Can I inspect vehicles before bidding?
In most cases. Pickles no longer offers inspections. In such a case, condition reports and PPSR checks substitute for physical inspection, so bid accordingly. Always check for finance encumbrances before bidding.
What is the buyer’s premium at Sydney car auctions?
Typically 10–18% plus GST depending on the auctioneer and sale type, there may be additional fees depedning on the vehicle type eg EV’s at Pickles incur an extra $100 fee. Check the individual listing for specifics. Always add the premium to your maximum bid to calculate your true total cost.
Trends & Insights
The standout story this week is the near-million-kilometre 2009 Toyota LandCruiser Sahara on AuctionsPlus, with bidding at $31,000 as of Aug 13. The fact that a vehicle with 999,999 km on the original starter motor is drawing that kind of money tells you everything about the strength of the LC200 market in NSW, and it closes Monday Aug 17 (AuctionsPlus, Aug 13). That is not a daily driver, that is a statement asset, and the bidding reflects it.
Volume is coming from the fleet and ex-government side. Manheim has its Sydney Government, Fleet & Corporate Vehicle Auction closing around Aug 17 with over 100 late-model lots at Moorebank (Auction Finder, Aug 15). Pickles is running its National Unreserved sale on Tue Aug 18, offering mixed daily drivers like a 2018 Mitsubishi Triton and a 2016 VW Golf at the Sydney site (Auction Finder, Aug 15). Buyers looking for solid family transport should also check Grays Online at Yennora on Sun Aug 16, where a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe and a 2016 Subaru Forester are among the 17 lots on offer (Auction Finder, Aug 15).
Salvage remains a consistent pipeline for trade buyers. Pickles has substantial NSW/ACT salvage action this week, with 236 lots on Thu Aug 20 and a further 64 on Fri Aug 21, featuring repairable write-offs including a 2022 Skoda Kodiaq and a 2025 Toyota LandCruiser (Auction Finder, Aug 19). That Friday session is worth a close look for late-model repairable stock. Looking ahead, Pickles has its National Council & Not For Profit auction on Aug 25, offering 150 to 200 vehicles live online from Sydney (Pickles, Aug 19). Buyers should watch that sale for clean, low-kilometre ex-council utes and vans, which have been moving steadily through the channel.

Rod’s Tips
Run a PPSR check before bidding on any vehicle. For $2, the Personal Property Securities Register reveals outstanding finance, theft records, and write-off history. A vital step before any used vehicle purchase at auction.
Manheim Moorebank and Pickles Belmore run weekly government fleet sales. These are often the best-value vehicles at auction as they are regularly serviced, well-documented, and usually sold without reserve.
Inspect in person where possible. Condition reports are useful but don’t replace a walk-around. Most auctioneers offer inspection days and you should use them, especially for higher-value lots.
Keep transport costs in mindAt major auctioneers, unless the vehicle has registration, you may not be able to drive the vehicle away. Clarify this in advance and budget accordingly.
Manhiem or Pickles? Which is Better? Over the years, I have bought vehicles from both, personally I think they are both very professional and that the most important thing is to understand the nature of buying at auction and to do your own research and inspection on any vehicle you wish to buy. Like any auction house, there is little chance for negotiation after the sale, but there is always an opportunity beforehand…

Grays Yennora Motor Vehicle Auction (Reserved)
More detail
This one’s got a bit of everything for the used-car buyer, but the standout is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A250 wagon. Petrol, auto, and with that A-Class interior, it’s a sharp daily that’s still under factory warranty if the compliance date lines up. The 2017 Land Rover Discovery SE diesel is the one for families or anyone needing serious towing and off-road ability without the showroom price. It’s a proper seven-seater with the TDV6, so check the service history and get a pre-bid inspection if you’re serious.
The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Highlander diesel is the sensible pick. Fully loaded with safety gear, AWD, and that strong 2.2-litre diesel, it’s the kind of car that’ll do 300,000 km without complaining. Also on the list is a 2014 MY15 BMW 118i hatch, which is a decent entry-level Euro option, though check the service records on those timing chains.
With 23 lots and a reserved auction, don’t expect fire-sale prices, but Grays usually sets reserves under market. Get your finance sorted, inspect what you can, and bid with a ceiling in mind. The Yennora site is easy to get to, and the online bidding means you can do it from the couch, but you’ll want to see the cars in person if you’re chasing a Land Rover or the Benz.

Braaap MotoE Automatic Motorbike. Individual motorcycle lot from Grays Online rolling auction.

Newcastle Motor Vehicle Auction
More detail
The 2025 Mazda CX-3 G20 Pure is the pick of the lot, offering a near-new hatchback with auto transmission and petrol power. It’s the kind of car that’s still fresh enough to skip the new-car depreciation hit, and it should draw plenty of interest from buyers wanting a reliable city runabout.
At the other end, the 2018 Hyundai Imax diesel van is the workhorse option. It’s a proper people-mover or cargo hauler depending on your needs, and diesel’s the sensible choice for high-mileage duties. The 2019 Tiguan Comfortline petrol SUV slots in as a solid family option, while the 2022 Yaris Ascent Sport is a tidy, fuel-efficient small car that’s hard to fault for commuting.
All four are registered under the one auction, so it’s a compact line-up rather than a massive clearance. That means less competition per vehicle, and with the close date set for late August, there’s time to do your homework. Check the photos and condition reports carefully, then bid accordingly.
-

(Yennora) Motor Vehicle Auction PV
More detail
This one’s a straight-up vehicle auction with nine lots, so it’s a tight field rather than a sprawling yard sale. The 2020 Santa Fe Active is the headline act, and it’s the kind of family hauler that holds its value, especially in diesel form. The 2018 Q7 is the luxury play, but factor in servicing costs before you bid; a German V6 diesel can sting you later if it hasn’t been looked after.
The 2016 Forester S is the sensible all-rounder, with Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive making it a strong pick for anyone outside the metro area. And if you just need a cheap runabout, the 2023 Swift GL is barely run-in, and Suzuki’s 1.2-litre petrol is about as painless as motoring gets. Check the condition reports carefully, as Grays listings can vary from pristine to project, and remember the close date is 26 August, so give yourself time to inspect if you can.
-

Yennora Motor Vehicle Auction Auto No Reserve
More detail
The pick of the lot is likely the 2013 Toyota RAV4 GXL Auto AWD Diesel. It’s a solid, no-frills family hauler that holds its value, and with no reserve, the opening bid could be the one that counts. The 2011 Touareg is the wildcard: a premium German SUV with serious towing capability, but check the service history because diesel Touaregs can get expensive if they’ve been neglected.
For buyers after something smaller, the 2014 Pulsar ST is a straightforward petrol auto, ideal for a daily commute, while the Golf 103TSI Highline wagon is the one for practicality and a bit of driving enjoyment. It’s a Highline, so expect the nicer trim and kit. All four are being sold unregistered and as-is, so factor in a roadworthy and rego costs before you bid. The auction closes on 26 August, so get your inspection done early and don’t get caught out at the end.
-

2025 BMW X2 xDrive20i M Sport Petrol
More detail
This one’s a low-km example of BMW’s compact crossover, and the xDrive20i badge means all-wheel drive with a punchy 2.0-litre turbo petrol. The M Sport spec adds the usual visual and handling upgrades, so it’s a step above the standard X2 for anyone who wants a bit more presence without stepping up to an X3.
Grays is running this as part of its rolling online auction schedule, which covers passenger cars, SUVs, utes, and vans. The Yennora site is the pickup point, so factor in transport if you’re not local. Check the service history and any condition report before bidding, as Grays lots are sold as-is with no dealer warranty. If you’re chasing a near-new Euro SUV under dealer pricing, this is worth a close look.
-

2014 Holden Trax LS Wagon (Petrol) (Auto) **No Reserve**
More detail
This Trax is the LS spec, meaning you get the basics done properly: air, power windows, and a punchy little petrol four-cylinder hooked to a slushbox auto. It’s not a flashy off-roader, but for school runs, shopping trips, or a first car, it ticks the boxes. The no-reserve angle is the big draw here, because it takes the guesswork out of the final price.
Grays runs these vehicle auctions regularly, so the lot list will include other SUVs, utes, and vans alongside this Holden. If you’re after a cheap, reliable hatchback-style SUV with a known service history, check the photos and the condition report before bidding. The Yennora pickup point is straightforward, but factor in transfer and stamp duty when you’re setting your ceiling.
-

2023 Suzuki Swift GL Petrol
More detail
This lot is part of Grays’ ongoing passenger vehicle and light commercial lineup, which also includes SUVs, utes, and vans. The Swift stands out for anyone after a cheap, reliable daily that’s still under factory warranty. With the GL trim you get air conditioning, Bluetooth, and a reversing camera as standard, plus the 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
If you’re chasing a newer car without the dealer lot premium, this is a solid pick. Bidding closes on a rolling schedule, so you’ll need to watch the countdown on the Grays site. The Yennora pickup location is convenient for Sydney buyers, but check the listing for any buyer’s premium or transfer fees before you commit.
-

2013 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Diesel
More detail
Grays Online is running this CX-5 as part of its ongoing vehicle listings, which also include passenger cars, SUVs, utes, and vans. The Grand Touring trim is the pick of the range here: leather seats, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, and a reversing camera were all standard when new. The diesel engine is the 2.2-litre turbo, which gives solid torque for highway work and towing, plus better fuel economy than the petrol version.
Check the service history and condition report before bidding, as these are sold as-is. The close date is still to be confirmed, so it’s worth checking the listing regularly for the countdown. If you want a practical family SUV that’s a cut above base models, this one’s worth a look.
-

2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport SE Diesel
More detail
The Discovery Sport SE is the pick of the bunch here, with the 2.2-litre diesel and auto box suiting daily duties or weekend runs. It’s a 2017 model, so you’re getting the updated infotainment and safety kit, not the earlier versions that feel dated. Check the service history and look for any off-road scuffs, as these units often cop light trail work.
Beyond the Land Rover, Grays has grouped in a mixed spread of light commercial and passenger metal. Expect the usual fleet-spec HiAces and Transits alongside private trade-ins, so there’s room to grab a bargain if you’re patient. The rolling format means prices move as the close date nears, so set your own ceiling and stick to it. Yennora pickup is straightforward, but factor in transport costs if you’re coming from further out.
-

2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Pure Diesel
More detail
This Evoque Pure is the diesel variant, which is the one to chase for better fuel economy and stronger resale. It’s being offered as a single lot in Grays Online’s ongoing vehicle lineup, which also includes passenger cars, utes, and vans if you’re shopping around at the same time.
The Pure trim sits near the base of the Evoque range, but you still get the sharp styling and premium cabin that made these so popular. Check the service history and condition report before bidding, as auction cars can vary. Yennora pickup means Sydney buyers have it easy, but interstate bidders should factor in transport costs.
Given it’s a 2014 model, watch for wear on the suspension and electronics, common on this generation. If it’s been looked after, this could be a solid daily driver with some presence. The close date is still to be confirmed, so check the listing for the final countdown.
-

2017 Subaru Outback Premium 4×4 Wagon (Petrol) (Auto)
More detail
This single-lot listing is part of Grays’ ongoing passenger vehicle and light commercial rotation, so expect the usual mix of trade-ins, ex-fleet cars, and lease returns alongside this Outback. The Premium trim is worth a look: it’s the one with the decent infotainment, leather-accented seats, and the full suite of Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist tech, which includes adaptive cruise and lane keeping.
For a 2017, the Outback’s 2.5-litre petrol boxer is a solid, low-stress engine, and the CVT is well-sorted for highway cruising. Check the service history before you bid, as these cars are sensitive to regular oil changes. The 4×4 system is the real draw here, so if you need a wagon that’ll handle dirt roads or wet grass without drama, this is a sensible pick.
Grays lists this as a rolling auction, so the close date is flexible until bidding activity settles. You’ll need to register and put in your offer, then wait to see if it holds. Yennora pickup means you’ll want to factor in transport if you’re not local, but for a late-model Outback with genuine all-weather ability, it’s worth the drive.
-

2004 Toyota Landcruiser Prado Gxl Petrol
More detail
This Grays Online lot is a single-vehicle offering, but it’s part of a broader rolling auction cycle that shuffles through passenger cars, SUVs, utes, and vans out of their Yennora depot. The Prado itself is the headline: a 2004 GXL petrol, which means it’s the mid-spec trim with cloth seats, dual-zone climate control, and a solid live-axle rear end. The petrol V6 is thirstier than the diesel, but it’s simpler and cheaper to maintain, and parts are everywhere.
Buyers should focus on the usual 20-year-old 4WD niggles: check the timing belt service records, look for oil leaks around the valve cover, and give the underside a good once-over for diff and transfer case damage. The GXL doesn’t have the flashy leather or nav of the top-spec VX, but it’s often the better buy because it’s less likely to have been babied. If the kilometres are reasonable and the body’s straight, this is a strong daily driver or tow rig that’ll hold its value. Grays runs these listings with a standard auction format, so you’ll need to register and bid within the close window, but the Yennora pickup is straightforward for Sydney buyers.
-

2014 Volvo XC60 T5 Kinetic Wagon (Petrol) (Auto)
More detail
This one’s a single-vehicle lot, but it’s part of Grays’ steady stream of passenger cars, SUVs, utes, and vans. The XC60 is a well-regarded mid-size SUV, and the T5 Kinetic spec means a punchy turbo petrol engine and a smooth automatic gearbox. It’s a practical daily driver with decent boot space and a comfortable cabin, not a stripped-out base model.
Check the service history and any condition notes before bidding, as Grays listings often reflect trade-in or lease returns. If you’re chasing a European wagon without the dealer floor price, this is worth a look. The auction is running as a standard timed sale, so factor in the usual inspection windows and buyer’s premium.
-

2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK280 Elegance Petrol
More detail
This one’s a straight passenger car listing from Grays Online’s rolling format, so it’s worth watching how the bidding moves closer to the close date. The CLK280 Elegance sits in that sweet spot of early-2000s Mercedes build quality, with a 3.0-litre petrol V6 that’s more about refined torque than outright pace. If you’re after a daily with some badge presence and don’t need the V8, this could be a decent buy, provided you factor in age-related niggles like suspension bushes or electric window regulators.
The auctioneer runs regular vehicle sales from Yennora, so this CLK is likely part of a broader line-up of passenger cars, SUVs, utes, and vans. That means you can often combine inspection trips if you’re chasing multiple lots. Check the photos for panel gaps and interior wear, and don’t assume the Elegance spec means it’s been garaged; it’s a 20-year-old car now, so condition is everything. If the logbook’s intact and the body’s clean, this could be a smart pick for someone wanting a German coupe without the new-car price.
-

2018 Holden Astra RS Hatch (Petrol) (Auto)
More detail
This Astra RS is the sort of car that suits a buyer after a sharp little hatch without the showroom price. The RS trim adds a bit of sporty flair over the base model, and the 1.4-litre turbo petrol paired with a six-speed auto makes for a decent daily driver. It’s a 2018, so it’s late in the Holden run, which means parts and service are still straightforward.
Grays is putting this one up as a single lot, not a bulk clearance, so you’re bidding on the car itself, not a mixed batch. Check the photos for condition, and factor in the usual auction fees and pickup from Yennora. If you’re chasing a tidy small car with a bit of punch, this is worth a look before the close date firms up.
-

2017 Honda Odyssey Wagon (Hybrid-Petrol) (Auto) **Import**Sold Registered to All Buyers**
More detail
This Odyssey is the hybrid-petrol variant, which is a bit of a rarity in the local used market, especially as an import. It’s a full-size people mover with sliding rear doors, three rows of seating, and that low-step floor Honda does so well. If you’re hauling kids or gear, the cabin is where this thing earns its keep, and the hybrid system keeps running costs down compared to the thirsty V6 versions.
The car is part of Grays’ ongoing vehicle sales, which mix in passenger cars, SUVs, utes, and vans, so it’s worth checking what else is in the same catalogue if you’re after a bargain on something bigger. Registration is sorted for the next owner, which takes a chunk of hassle out of the process. No close date locked in yet, so it’s a matter of watching the listing and jumping in when the timing suits you.
-

2016 Lexus NX 200t Luxury Petrol
More detail
This Lexus NX 200t Luxury is the pick for anyone wanting a near-premium daily driver without the new-car showroom sting. The 2.0-litre turbo runs smoothly, and the Luxury spec throws in leather seats, dual-zone climate control, and a decent infotainment setup. It’s a 2016 build, so you’re looking at a solid modern car with sensible running costs, not a project.
Grays has grouped this with a mixed fleet of vehicles, so if the Lexus isn’t your style, there are likely SUVs, utes, and vans in the same sale. Check the photos for wear, and factor in a pre-bid inspection if you’re serious. The close date is yet to be locked in, so refresh the listing closer to the end. For a one-owner-style buy with a known brand, this is worth a look.
-

2016 Subaru Forester S Petrol
More detail
The Forester S is the higher-spec trim, so you’re getting the punchy 2.5-litre petrol engine and Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard. It’s a practical pick for families or anyone needing reliable dirty-road capability without stepping up to a full 4WD. Check the service history and condition report before bidding, as Grays listings often vary on wear and tear.
Beyond this Forester, the auction site is moving a mix of everyday vehicles, from small hatches to tradie-friendly utes and vans. If you’re after a daily driver or a workhorse, it’s worth scanning the full lot list for comparable options. Yennora pickup means Sydney-based buyers can inspect in person, which is always the smart play on used cars.
